Here’s a short and simple activity to do with your preschoolers on Earth Day. It was created by Deb of Living Montessori Now and is a great way to introduce {or review!} the concept of recycling – what it is, the different types of materials that can be recycled, and why recycling is beneficial to the Earth. It’s also a great way to review new Earth Day vocabulary!
To use the cards – print two sets, leaving one set whole and cutting the second set apart. Students can then work individually, or with a partner, to match all of the pieces together. Since there are only 4 cards, you might consider adding a writing component, revising one set of cards to include traceable vocabulary words {see example below}.

We also like Deb’s suggestion for including a 3-dimensional component! Be sure to visit Living Montessori Now for this fantastic download – and for Deb’s suggestions for using the cards!
